4wd to 2wd conversion

i have a 69 4wd i want to convert to 2wd or just a standard 6lug what is the cheapest route to go? i am in portland and any leads to parts is greatly appreciated. thanks

Here's an article on the easiest way to convert. If you just put the rear axle on top of the leaf springs, you can save some $ and time too.

One word for you: Craigslist. There are 67-72 parts listed constantly in PDX. Also there's DC trucks in Vancouver.

I've dealt with this guy once. He has lots of stuff and the transaction went well. His ad lists most everything you'd need to do the swap in the suspension department. Not 1/2 ton parts though. http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/pts/1891247498.html

im doing the same thing right now, but now im goin a different route, but yeaha the easiest way is to buy a donor truck 67-72 2wd and switch over the suspension to the 4x4 frame, keep in mind that the lwb and the swb have the same length trailing arms in the rear, hit me up if you have any more questions brah

pull a complete front crossmember to a 63/87 chevy bolt it up to your frome then just do a flip kit in the back

ok guys i picked up that 68 pick up for $150 off craigslist also scored the front end too so i very happy. went to work on the engine and tranny cross members and rear end today to took the trailing arms too got a few extra parts too so im happy with that. my next question is about the trailing arm bracket do i need that too and what about the torsion arm bracket? i cut the frame right at the firewall so can match it to my frame on the blazer. any pics would help either emailed to me or something already posted on the forum i may have missed thanks to you all crawford 510-393-3099

You don't need to cut any frame, just unbolt the A arm crossmember and bolt in your blazer. I would bet the holes are even drilled already.

Before you start cutting up the frame on your Blazer, check out the article that was linked. You don't need to chop out the front half of the Blazer and replace it with the 2WD front half.

Swapping front half's is one way to go but it's way easier to go the route outlined in the article. If you're set on the front half route, measure, measure, measure and make you take your time welding and plating the frame.

Also, yes, if you're using the trailing arm setup instead of lowering the leaf spring setup, you will need all of the associated parts from the 2WD frame.

Going to be a fun project. You going to do air bags or stick with springs? Stock height or lowered?
