Yeah, we thought the same thing when doing mine. It'll work.

Mine was so much bigger, I thought my GF had bought a small window instead.

Quality control aint what it used to be.Is your gasket with or without the locking strip (chrome or black)?sometimes i get gaskets a little small or a little big . 1 inch isnt that bad . set it in the sun and let it warm up for a while . we are upper 90s here so only a few minutes .also tape it to the glass and force it to shrink . or send it back and go to a glass shop and get a Precision brand gasket.if it takes the chrome or black strip just force the gasket on the pinchweld the glass will make it fit when its installed.

it is possible to have a glass that is too small if it is after market . if buying a new glass get pilkington .or you might still find some good ones in a salvage yard.

Re: solid back glass rubber gasket question

The rubber stretches so I've found you can bunch it up to get it to fit...

typical lmc gasket. if you can get it on the truck without having fall off you can propably get it in. if it is falling off faster than you can put it on trash it. if it is loose they can bunch up and will leak. like mine. im done with em.

Re: solid back glass rubber gasket question

how does it fit the glass itself? i found if it doesnt fit that well, i find something else. I got mine from classic parts of america and it fit correctly. IIRC you may still be able to get a GM replacement from the dealer. I saw some online a year ago or so...

I got mine from LMC a few years ago and remembered wrapping around the glass and it was so loose it was hard to keep in place while setting the glass.

After we got it up on the cab and pulled the rope to set rubber, it pulled right in nice and tight, looks and works fine.
