Alingment Specs. for 47 to 54 Chevy

I am looking for alingment specs. on a Mll front suspension on my 55 1st series G M C.
The ware has caused the outside tread on the tire to ware down to replacement time and I want to correct the problem by placing new tires and alingment. My thoughts are a positive camber or a toe in problem,
Is there a general spec for all Mll's or should there be some compensation for this ware pattern because of the weight of the truck Vs. the Mll

Re: Alingment Specs. for 47 to 54 Chevy

here are some general specs to shoot for if in doubt

0.00 camber right and left
vary -0.2 per side if needed
3.50 caster left
4.00 caster right
always run more caster by .50 degree on right vs left
toe in +0.05 per side for =0.10 total toe in.

I always try for either dead zero camber per side or slight negative. Excess neg or positive toe in or out will wear inside or outside edges quicker than some neg or positive camber will.
I always shoot for positive caster for better steering and with 1/2 degree more on the right than the left will compensate for road crown drift. toe in by 1/8th inch is general rule but I try for at least +0.10 total toe in for best results.

Re: Alingment Specs. for 47 to 54 Chevy

Those specs are just a general way to get you real close and help keep tire wear to a minimum and are useful if you have a custom set up or cant find specs.

I would like to see what your set up is right now so I could help see what your tire wear issue really is. Like I stated earlier excessive toe in or toe out will create the fastest inside or outside tire edge wear although many think positive or negative camber will do more damage.........not the case,as both will do damage over time but toe in or toe out in excess will cause the fastest edge wear.

Re: Alingment Specs. for 47 to 54 Chevy

I will dig out the specs from the last alingment back in late 06 and take some pics of the tires. The ware was not sudden but I have been keeping a eye on the tires for the past year when I noticed the pattern of ware. This is on my 55 1st series GMC with a Mll, and the tires have about 10K on them the tires are 215-65-15 on 7" wheels 3 1/2 BS
