Possilbe new truck! Any major problems or things I should check?

Might be going to look at a "2000 GMC 2500 leather loaded 160000 miles heavy duty trans 6 liter 4x4. Runs great three door low book is 6800 rebuilt title in 09 runs and drives perfect". This is from the ad for it. Never owned anything this new haha. Just looking for any advice from anybody that's dealt with one. Like any major issues or things I should check for besides the obvious? Thanks in advance.

Doesn't a rebuilt title mean it was previously scrapped?

How much are they asking? Have any pictures? Link to the ad?

The 6 liter is pretty bullet proof, also kind of a gas hog (that's opinion). I have an 05 Silverado with a 6L, and I love the power, but the thing can barely pass a gas station. I have another 05 Silverado with a 4.3V6 and that's what I drive most days.

I found it.
That's a sharp looking truck, and IMO the price reflects the salvage title. I have owned several salvage title vehicles, and as long as the price is right, and you check them over, you should be OK. I would offer $4,500 and see if they take it. When I see OBO or trades, that tells me they want it gone.

Yep that's kinda what I figured. I want a 2500 for towing when I need to. Such as snowmobiles in the winter and my bros motor boat in the summer. I have heard that the 6.0s are kinda gas hogs but I am use to that haha. The salvage title doesn't scare me it wont be getting sold again. Was gonna offer him 4600$ and see where it goes. Thanks for the info.

These trucks rot quick underneath in the rear, In the rear check the brake lines, rear brake backing plates, rear shackles, and the gas lines.

Re: Possilbe new truck! Any major problems or things I should check?

Fuel pump might make it to 100k, if its above, figure that relatively soon.

Check the oil cooler line from the filter housing to the radiator for leaks.

Water pump gaskets are a coin toss, some last the life of the truck, some last 30k.

Don't neglect the in-cabin air filter.

Lastly, its a luck of the draw thing, some of these trucks have piston slap like you wouldnt believe. It goes away once you reach operating temp but sounds like the pistons are going to swap holes when cold, so when you look at it, stipulate that it needs to have been sitting all night and not fired up yet. My 1999 ECSB 2500 w/6L has a moderate case, and its fine so long as I let the old dog warm up, but if I have to leave in a hurry on a cold day its pretty cringe worthy.
