Glove box light
Two questions:
1. Were glove box lights standard equipment in these trucks. I think I know the answer to this one but, 2. Does anyone make a decent aftermarket glove box light/switch? When I put a new one in my '68, it practically fell apart as I was installing it. Very poorly made and not worth what I paid for it.

I don't know if they were standard or not. I don't know where you got yours, but I bought one off the parts board a while ago and it looks ok, but I haven't installed it yet. You could actually make one fairly easily, I would think, if you had access to the parts. The design on the glovebox doors on these truck isn't the greatest in the first place; they stick closed, they are made of paper, and you have to be careful that the light is adjusted properly or you can drain your battery, etc.

Just get one out of a mid to late 70's model truck or car. I think they wiil pretty much all work. LockDoc

not only were they not standard on these trucks, but they were never factory installed at all in them. only dealer add on.
Just grab one off a late 60's to early to mid 80's full size car, and pop it in. I sold about 250 of them on here in years past, no one ever had problems with the builbs and card board (they did this on other cars from the factory) and no one ever copmplained about the light staying on either. If you adjust the door properly, it'll pop open when you depress the button. |
