PPG paint

Hi there everyone. I am a owner of a 1965 c10 and the time has come to paint it. A friend of my dad's is willing to prime my truck with ppg280 primer for $550. However i am hesitant because i do not know anything when comes to paint brands, mixing etc. I want to know what kind of brands will go along with this type of primer. I know what color i want to paint but i am still unsure on what brand would have it. Maybe someone can give me a suggestion?!? the color i want to paint is a metallic midnight blue. if anyone could help me id appreciate it

Re: PPG paint

are you at bare metal? if you are then if it was me i would us DX 1791 its the self etching wash primer... then id hit it with DP 74 LF epoxy primer, then with some K36 primer... that way you can wet sand it and what not... we painted a 1915 pierce arrow with PPG products in that sequence and it came out super

Re: PPG paint

PPG doesn't sell their paint online anymore and I don't think DuPont does either. You have to go to a shop to get the paint. Only the off brands and House Of Kolor can be bought online.

Re: PPG paint

Let me shout out for PPG and their product AND their lesser lines,Omni to some extent on some things are great. The clears lack UV protection that my customers need here[anywhere would be my guess] but the lady that mixes the Omni paint is very good at her job and is just as concerned about my customers as I am. The Omni primers I have found to be really good as well if price is ever a concern for you maybe you should ckeck into Omni it is anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 or more less money than the top shelf products. The thing about them is when you go into the store most are trained not to ask you about the cheaper products and try to sell the more expensive stuff unless they are asked. Jim
