Spring exposed
While stripping the paint off of my rear axle I wore through the rubber coating that covers the spring that goes into the rear of the drum. The spring is what the emergency brake cable passes through right before it enters the drum. It is a small Nick but the spring is exposed. Is that going to be an issue, should I not wory about it, should I replace it?

Well it would depend on what kind of restoration you are doing, and if it's going to bother you or not. I would hit it with some paint or rubber undercoating to reseal it and forget about it.

It is not going to be a show truck. I was only concerned with it maybe rusting and causing further problems.

A dab or two of liquid electrical tape would fix that.
