Looking for a secondary VIN on a 1955 (2nd series)

My farther in-law bought a 55 last weekend and the cab Vin plate is very faded and dosen't appear to match. I have heard the the 55-59 cars have a secondary vin on the frame under the drivers seat. Do the trucks?

It is usually located on the left rail top anywhere from the radiator support to under the cab.

Mine is located on the drivers side under the cab.
Look under the cab to see if there is any numbers there. A trick to get all the numbers is to take regular tape about 6" long and overlap 2 pieces of tape then lay it on the frame, make sure the frame has a little dust or dirt on it then rub on the tape and peel and you should have the numbers without too much trouble.

Re: Looking for a secondary VIN on a 1955 (2nd series)

My 59 has one on the top drivers side frame rail right behind the front crossmember. I found a second on the top drivers side frame fail under the cab. Most cars have a secondary one that is hard to get to to "erase" in case someone would want to conceal the history. I hand sanded my frame to bare metal and did not find any more.
