reinstalling lower door trim
Well I went thru one of those touchless car washes the other day when the weather was nice and I'll be damned if the fan that drys the vehicles off when you are leaving didn't blow a couple of lower pieces of trim on the passenger side of my truck . I got most of it back on but I am having a heck of a time getting my big hands behind the lower door hinge to remove the bolt that holds the piece that the trim attaches to. Is there a trick to removing this piece without removing the entire door or do I need a certain wrench to make it easier? Maybe I need to see if my better half can get her hands in there.

Re: reinstalling lower door trim
This is like almost impossible. I've tried all sorts of ways with no simple solution. When I restore today, I eliminate the screw-bolt clip and use a spring loaded type. I also have used double sided 3M foam backed tape on lower trim with great results. If you can get a small wrench on the little bolt, but can't turn the wrench, I would rotate the clip from the outside and remove it. Then replace it with a spring loaded or 3M tape. IF your truck has nice paint, and the door is aligned really well, I would drill out the POS before I would remove the door. My .02!!

Re: reinstalling lower door trim
I've cussed that problem several times. I would like to know how the factory did it. Marking the postion and removing the three hinge bolts on the bottom hinge has worked for me. It requires a very patient helper to hold the door while your're doing it so you don't wreck or scratch anything.

Re: reinstalling lower door trim
where do you buy the spring loaded pieces that hold the trim on?

Re: reinstalling lower door trim
I dropped my inner fenders and went in from the wheel well. Took forever but it worked. BTW the door will be closed for this process.
