Question 1982 GMC Suspension Questions

Hello everyone! This might be a very random question but I was wondering if anyone knew what the physical length of the stock rear shackles? I'm asking because I believe that my truck still has the stock shackles with drop hangers on the rear suspension. If this is true then it would explain the stiff suspension in the rear, correct?

I apologize for the quality of the picture.

Ok then... Additional question... the lower bolt hole on the shackle would decrease the ride height if I moved the leaf down on the shackle? If I'm thinking my physics through that would be right.

Re: 1982 GMC Suspension Questions

I'm an idiot! That wouldn't be correct... the shackle is connected to the hanger witch is on the frame! If I were to move the leaf down it would raise the rear end. Thank goodness I didn't do anything yet.

Re: 1982 GMC Suspension Questions

I'm a idiot I thought you wanted to raise your truck, and you can remove a couple of leaf springs and it will help the ride

Re: 1982 GMC Suspension Questions

Yeah I was thinking of removing the overload spring on the leafs but I still want to be able to pull a trailer if needed. I think I've made my mind up to just go ahead and C-Notch it.
