Found some more trucks this weekend...sharing the pics
Thought I'd share some pics of more local iron that Ive been finding. This is a 62 c-10, shortbed stepside. Still trying to contact owner to find status of truck. Hasn't moved since 2010.

Re: Found some more trucks this weekend...sharing the pics
A 62 that I found. Been sitting a few years, no motor and trans, bed wood is gone, and a homemade c-notch kit in rear. Guys wants 3K which is way to much. Hood and rockers full of rust and shot.

Re: Found some more trucks this weekend...sharing the pics
A 1961 c-10 that I picked up for parts. Cab is completely shot, but Im going to make a matching trailor to pull behind the 63 out of the bed. Good engine/trans but all I know is its a SB chevy...still gota run the numbers.

Re: Found some more trucks this weekend...sharing the pics
Another 1961 c-10 that I found. Took a nasty hit on the passenger side which split the cab open pretty bad. Its a shame, was a 21,000 mile rust free cab. Still has grease pencil markings on the firewall. Owner wants way too much for parts and only wants to sell selective stuff...changed his mind about 10 times while we were there on parts and cost. The cab and frame have issues (as you can see from the pics). Thinks hes sitting on a gold mine...wants 400 just for the hood and it needs work..although 95% rust free and no cancer, front end has rust in the fenders. Grill has been sold. Wants around 3K to part out. Its a shame he wants so much for parts, be a nice donar truck.

Re: Found some more trucks this weekend...sharing the pics
its a shame when they won't let go of trucks at a reasonable price. looking only at the value of a finished truck not the work and cost of getting it there.
heres a couple i saw... both great rigs, both need lots. and the gmc is smothered in briars. |

Re: Found some more trucks this weekend...sharing the pics
Yeah, its too bad they cant be purchased reasonablly. I at least try and get pics if they'll let me. At least people can see what else is out there and what other owners have done. I archive all the pics I get and have tons of them. Alot of these trucks have not moved in years, and at the prices the owners want, they wont move anytime soon. I dont think that most of them know what they are worth in the conditions that they are in, just what they paid for them or as I heard twice this weekend...."I used ebay for my priceing". Therein lies the problem.

Re: Found some more trucks this weekend...sharing the pics
Same guy who had the 1961 short bed fleetside that was t-boned had this 1963 1/2 ton panel. Wants $4500 for it. Has a SBC and 3 speed on the tree. Way overpriced like the rest of his stuff, but still fun to look at. I believe thats a Nash next to it.

Yeah...that looks like it. Im not real familiar with them. Just saw the nose poking out, but didn't think to ask about it. The one in your video looks like it'd be fun to drive.

Re: Found some more trucks this weekend...sharing the pics
He wanted $4500 which in my opinion was way high. I think at most its about a $1500 truck. I didn't hear it run, be he said it ran and shifted smoothly. Its going to need quite a bit of body work as you can tell by the pics. I suggested he use the parts from the 61 and make a solid truck out of it....but its his goldmine. Interior is a basket case too, although looked complete.

Re: Found some more trucks this weekend...sharing the pics
The 63 GMC cabover here still had the spicer trans and I beleive 6v-53 diesel engine and two speed rearend. The other dinosaur is a truck made by White Truck Co...I have never heard of them, but he had two of them. The glass cab lights were in excellent shape.

Re: Found some more trucks this weekend...sharing the pics
Some very cool photos, thanks for sharing. I can appreciate an owner placing a ridiculous value on something for emotional reasons that he once treasured and is now nearly worthless. Sadly I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve seen vintage vehicles in these circumstances end up rusting into the ground or eventually going to the scrap yard when the owner dies and the family just wants the “junk” eliminated.
And repeating what clemdaddy said, so many people seem to think any old vehicle is worth $5,000, discounting the reality that it would take at least a $5,000 investment to make it worth that much. After talking with many “vintage” owners of old cars and trucks, I can’t tell whether they collect old stuff because they’re nuts, or if collecting the old stuff made them nuts because they became detached from reality over the perceived popularity and value of their “collection”! One of my most bizarre experiences was ten years of periodic encounters with the original owner of a mint condition 1948 Dodge sedan. Man I wanted that car, it was really cherry with the shiny original blue paint. It received a brand new engine in about 1956 and was never driven again. He also owned a 52 Ford sedan in poor condition that didn’t run. In the mid 60’s he agreed to sell me both cars for $1,000 but I had to take both of them. At the time the Dodge was worth $150 and the Ford about $15. Each subsequent meeting became less rational. Over the years he filled the back window of the 52 with ladies high heal shoes, then painted the entire car with silver Rustoleum with a brush (including all the glass), which I took as an indicator he’d lost the rest of his marbles. On the last encounter he explained how he was going to pull the engine and transmission out of the Dodge and bury them in the front yard, and build a ramp over the house to drive the car into the backyard. After that I gave up. Years later I found out he murdered his mother in the same house. I wasn’t surprised, and was somewhat relieved I never gained ownership of the Dodge. But still what a waste.

Re: Found some more trucks this weekend...sharing the pics
Wow...sounds like the guy really went off the deep end. The guy who ones the 63 panel hasn't used it before. He bought it to flip and probably only paid $500 for it. Hes a backyard car dealer. He doesn't have any desire to keep or use them. He puts new brakes on them and makes them driveable, then takes what he got in them and wants a $3000 return. He'll have them for some time yet. He did come down on the 61 though...agreed to let him keep the hood, engine & trans and sold the rest to me and my buddy mike for $600. Th61 only had 21K on the odometer and has been garage kept its whole life...so rust free and lots of low mileage parts. The rust free driver door is going on my 63 along with the metal lined windows for both doors. My buddy wants a bunch of parts off of it. Have a guy who wants the windshield and front crossmember from drum to drum, so it'll work out good. It took a wicked t-bone on the pass side. Have comtemplated cutting the driver side from front to back on the bottom...remove cab supports, floor, rockers and cab corner out in one piece. I need rocker and cab corner on the 63. I dont know that I can cut & weld a piece that big, most people just replace all the panels seperate and aftermarket. Anybody have any idea if it'll work?
