stepside to fleetside
i have a 1970 short stepper with a 67 front clip and what to change the bed to a short fleetside. what year bed should i get and is it a direct bolt on. can i use anything from the stepside like the cross sills. i plan on buyin new reman. parts from the truck shop what will i need. thanks

I believe every bed from '68 to '72 are the same. I don't know if you have side markers or not, or if you want to keep them. If you don't want the side markers then you need a '67 bed or shave the markers out of later model beds.

i dont have side markers up front. a 67 bed dosent have side markers

to look 'right' you'll need a 67 bed, or weld the marker holes closed on a 68 - 72 bed.
If you get a complete bed, then it is a direct swap. |

i agree with Tim for the most part.

I can understand swapping. I love my stepper but I think if I found a really nice SWB, I would shave the markers (if needed) and paint it to match my truck. Would be cool to be able to switch them out!
I like them both, but honestly? Old trucks scream stepper! D
