I am seriously considering removing the trim on mine permanently since it's pretty messed up and has been tacked on with screws everywhere and the new sets are very expensive. Do you have any pics of yours or someone elses with the trim removed and a two tone paint job?

I have seen very few trucks that the paint lines up from panel to panel without the trim. Most everyone uses the trim to hide any variations in their masking. You are also going to be left with quite a few holes once you remove the trim. Is yours really that bad? Maybe you can find someone with a few used pieces to help you out.

I`ve never liked them done w/o the trim,looks cheezy.And,filling those hole the right was,to me is equal in effort to the cost of new moulding.And,that new stuff looks so good.Old bent trim is ugly and detracts from the truck`s looks.But,new sets it off!I have the same deal with my blue & white truck.Until I restore it,I don`t want to put new on,but some trim is pretty beat-up.Looking at it I realize it`s only a few pieces,so I`m putting decent used pieces there.Mine has woodgrain and on one side it`s faded and peeling.I put a better tool & stowage door on that had black accent.I`ll just get a roll of the tape to spruce it all up for the time being.

Do you have a pic of yours, Tim? You are right about the extra labor involved, but I got a friend who's a bodyworking expert. Now, getting him to do it is another thing entirely.

i have found that i can get new upper and lower trim for about $400 that is the route that i'm taking. nothing sets off new paint like new brightwork

I have pictures of the truck.But,I don`t think they`ll show the condition of the moulding.

How about two tone without trim following the top body line and swooping down in the rear like the line does (especially on a swb)? I think that is what I am going to do. I personally do not like trim on these trucks.

WIBILLY--where did you find the complete set of new trim for 400.00?--The best I could find id 550.00 all the way up to 850.00.

You can always do a divider stripe by laying down thin tape along the line so that the two colors "swap" into each other.
Then,there`s always the stick on trim like the 80s & 90s trucks used.There`s the narrower type(less than 1" wide) for the top.It even comes with a spear tip.

I have most of the trim that came off my truck, Im unsure whether or not I plan on puting it back on for it has aged a great deal. Im only missing the front pass side spear tipped one and the bottom tailgate piece. Anyone interested in these if I dont use them? I can post pics while I decide.

i found a guy at a swapmeet quoted me $400 when i called to order it he called back and said it would be $510 i ordered it since i had bought the white paint after i was quoted the $4oo i wish now i had not spent all the extra money only to do the extra work the holes on my truck were all welded closed by po
