Is it wrong ??

To want to build another truck in this economy/ world ?

1st I already have 2 trucks but... I have come across a interesting optioned truck. I national park service 85 k30 4x4 with Diesel. Now it is very low mileage 35k but lots of dents and no options. I can get it for $1,800 and it has locking rear diff and limited slip front (pretty rare) automatic and 205 t-case. Make a fun truck / trail rig (like I got time but still) I think it would be cool. Am I silly ?? I have a newer diesel truck and a 72 4x4 that are both "on road" vehicles

what do you all think.

+ I am digging the CB and dual 12 ft antennas it has

If you got the cash, who's to say it's wrong. Maybe it's a good investment. Buy at $1800 this year and when the economy is back sell it at $2500 or more.

But then again, if you even gotta ask whether it's right to do it, maybe you should listen to the inner voice.

Re: Is it wrong ??

Sure it's not an m1028? At least, I think those are the ones that all had a front posi.

I say go for it, providing you have the space and money. I have 9 or 10 vehicles, and all of them are projects (or at least "not done") and I will never have time for all of them. But I try and I'm fine with that

The M1028's have a 208 transfercase.
The M1028A1 has a 205 transfercase and usually started out as a M1031 chassis cab.

Re: Is it wrong ??

I am told that it is 1 owner (park service). It is straight white says department of interior on the glovebox only and looks to have had stripes on the side that have been painted over with rattlecan. Whatever it is or was I think I will just get it and find a place to stash it until I get some time and money.

What does this economy have to do with it?? As long as your PERSONAL economy is in good shape, you should be able to do what you want!

Re: Is it wrong ??

I would do some serious inspecting on the differentials, since it sounds like you are "hanging your hat" on the traction devices. I would be sure that they are what you think they are before you spend money on a low optioned truck that has a beat-up body.

Re: Is it wrong ??

One of the rules in business, is that if you have the money to spend, a recession is a good time to expand--you can get a lot more for the same amount of maney as everyone else must sell.

It makes sense that the same should apply in toys and projects...don't feel bad at all about expanding when everyone else is selling, especially if you really can afford it.

We will all be jealous, however!!!

Re: Is it wrong ??

Actually it's a great time to find some great deals. I put out some feelers a few weeks ago and was astounished how little I was offered. I'm not in a bind so I just kept the truck, but some out there might be as lucky..

Re: Is it wrong ??

you just check the rpo lable on the truck. they to verify in 2 wd power brake it . if its a dog do it in the grass. for the front ingage 1 huband jack that wheel up if you can spin the wheel its open if you can't its a limited slip. thats how I checked this one.

Odd too that they all have roof marker lights. Nice looking trucks indeed!
