Re: gmc version of this?

That sun tiger thing was not factory , it was just some outfitter that customized your truck after you ordered it from the dealer. Look here: http://www.73-87.com/7387info/7387misc.htm

Re: gmc version of this?

Mind reposting that 77-78 image, it is a red-x for me and I would like to save for my files.
I have been teaching myself Access and my next project is a database for truck colors, and possibly other options also.
I have two pretty big folders of truck pictures on my work computer and my home PC too.

PS; IMO, this is the ultimate GM grill...

Just noticed this...

The pic on the bottom left showing the hood detail added in 77... That was actually added in 1979.

Re: gmc version of this?

This is the original hood on my 78. It was bought new by my grandfather in 78 and never wrecked. this is the original hood.

It has a 79-80 hood on it now after the repaint, but it came factory without the hood detail.

This is my 77 C10. another survivor, my dad bought it new off the lot in 77. It didnt have the 79-80 hood detail either. never wrecked in its life.

Hard to make out because of the white... sorry look for the hood's center hump to go down the front of the hood.

Re: gmc version of this?

I just picked up that grill earlier this month, I was going to replace the tube grill in my 76 Chevy with it but I don't have all the right brackets for it.

Re: gmc version of this?

1) As far as the chart, i can't help you. Maybe you can draw one because i certainly can't---draw.

Until then, this may help:
http://brochures.slosh.com/

2) For gmc grills/frontends my favorite are the 73-74 and 81-82. Even though i'm a chevy person, i've always thought gmc had better looking grills

Re: gmc version of this?

On the hood detail topic...that picture I showed was taken in '82. It was all original paint and body...no doubt. I remember when the '79s came out and wondered why they changed the hood in such a subtle way. I was a GM truck guy back then and was paying attention to details, watched my friends buy them, and worked construction all around them. They changed the hood when they changed the grille surround and added full fill doors.
