Under the hood lighting

Hey guys has anyone done or seen a light placed under the hood of our trucks? I was thinking of going to the salvage yard and pull one of a newer model truck and seeing what could work. Any comments or pics would be great.

NO IDEA WHAT YEAR, MY BUDDY PUT ONE FROM A LATE 90'S
ON HIS 80 MODEL, IT WAS THE ONE THAT WINDS UP SO YOU
CAN DETACH IT AND STRING OUT THE CORD TO SEARCH FOR
UNDER THE HOOD PROBLEMS, HE INSTALLED IT ON THE FEND
RIGHT NEXT TO THE BATTERY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE

I had a jeep comanche that had a neat light with reel. There is one on ebay right now from a GM product. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...944441764&rd=1

Some of the higher end GM cars back in the 60's had one in the trunk that was long enough to go all around to the front of the car. Buddy's 64 Grand Prix had one, reeled in and out.

Yep, using one of those as the dome light in my CJ5, attached to the windshield frame above the rearview mirror. It reaches just about anywhere in the jeep, including under the hood.

The magnet came off of the bulb part, so I need to replace that.

My '02 has an underhood light that I guess has a merc switch in it, which would probably be really simple to wire as well.

Dating myself--WW2 Jeeps had the front headlight that could pivot backwards to shine into the engine compartment. Neat trick!!!

Will try and get a pic of it tomorrow.

They have a magnetic base as well.
