what size shock do i buy?

Hello all,

I have a 69 4x4 short bed with a 4 inch lift. I am in need of new shocks for my ttruck, but do not know what size to buy. Most shock come in sizes UP TO 14 IN. OF TRAVEL. Does anyone with a similar set up know what the measurements are for our trucks?

thanks in advance;

Just get shock for your truck with a 4" lift.I`ve never measured a shock before.Just decide what brand and model,then ask for your application.It`s easy.

Re: what size shock do i buy?

Rancho shows the RS5112 for the rear and RS5001 for the front for lifts of 2 1/2 to 4".

The RS5112 is 16" compressed, 26.250 ext. with 10.250" of travel.

The RS5001 is 13.250" compressed, 21.125 ext. with 7.875 of travel.

That should give you a ballpark.

If you are building a flex monster, the best thing to do would be to go measure your vehicle as it sits level and see if the above measurements put you at about halfway between those measurements.

If you're building the truck for alot of hard offroad use you probably should go cycle your suspension and take measurements at full stuff and full droop.
