Did Any 1988-90 R3500 Series Have the 292 I-6?
Were there any 1988-90 R3500 series crew cabs, bonus cabs and chassis-cabs that used the old 292 inline six? Or was that ol' faithful for the Step Van/Value Vans (P-series) only in those years?

Yes, there were although I don't know the final year for them. I remember seeing a couple of them, I think they were both 88's.

Re: Did Any 1988-90 R3500 Series Have the 292 I-6?
In 3500 series 88 was the last year for the 4.8L. The 4.8L was still a carb motor in 88. It was also the last year for the 6, either inline or v6. The 4.1 was never available in 3500.
In 2500 series 84 was the last year for the 4.1, 88 was the last year for the 4.8L (carb motor). It was replaced by the V6 in 89. In 1500 series 84 was the last year for the 4.1L. In 85 it was replaced with the V6. Side note, 85 and 86 were carb motors, 87's were Fuelie motors. This above only applies to US Square trucks. Mexican Square trucks were carb (and reg fuel) till 91. I don't have a break down of engine choices of Mexican trucks, sorry. All 88-up NBS US trucks were Fuelie motors. 4.1L 250 ci 4.3L 262 ci 4.8L 292 ci Last edited by esbstuff; 07-17-2016 at 05:32 PM. |

I do that in Brazil and possibly other south american markets the 250/4.1L continued on well into the 90's, even got equipped with a multipoint efi system.
http://www.curbsideclassic.com/blog/...ning-by-lotus/ Yes the article shows it in a car, but GM also dropped the EFI 250 into GMT400 trucks there as well. |
