My "shop" in the blizzard

I have this portable carport I use in my driveway for a shop. We are in the middle of a blizzard here in Tulsa so it takes some care to keep it up.

I've been out there all night about once an hour knocking the snow off.
And I was working on getting the timing close on a restart too. I might be obsessed.

I took some photos. Enjoy

Re: My "shop" in the blizzard

I used to have one of those, finally have a regular garage/shop now. We dont get a lot of snow here, but of course when I was using that we had a very large snow fall. I saw a bunch of em that just collapsed under the weight.

I went out to knock the snow off of mine, figured I would just bump it off from the inside. I was pretty dumb though ... I took a 2x4 I had laying out there and gave the roof a pretty good smack (lotta snow up there to knock off). Well the plastic was pretty much frozen under the snow and when I smacked upwards with the end of my 2x4 it went right through the plastic poking a big ol hole in it.

That was the beginning of the end of that plastic garage LOL.

It's just to freakin cold to go out and work on the truck today. I don't know about you but I have 5 foot snow drifts in front of my garage and can't get out to get a picture.

Re: My "shop" in the blizzard

CG , I'm on my second car port. Last year I was out of town and we got snow. Came home to a downed unit. I was working on my boat project then.

Trucknut, there is so much snow everywhere. And I'm so close to hearing my truck run , I don't even feel the cold. So close, so close.

We're supposed to get that same storm up here....about a foot in the next 12 hours they say!
Glad I have the electric furnace in the garage, keeps it just above freezing.

Re: My "shop" in the blizzard

I think the only real trick is to be used to the cold, like northerners... but live in the south.
people here are complaining because its like 50* tonight.... but theres no ice. no snow.. and im going to ride my motorcycle home... (rode it to work because it was in the 60s and sunny earlier today)

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Re: My "shop" in the blizzard

I don't mind the snow so much, probably because I'm also fortunate enough to have a Tacoma 4x4 as well. That thing goes anywhere!!!

But 70 closed, 6 ft snowdrifts in Oklahoma, crazy. I do wish I had a woodburning stove.

Re: My "shop" in the blizzard

We're expecting 71 degrees today, 40 degrees tomorrow, then low 50's through the weekend. Our 12-13" of snow rolled in the end of December.

Re: My "shop" in the blizzard

I dont mind the snow but I can do without the 35mph winds that drop the temp down to -5.
Lucky me I get to shovel the driveway today so the wife can get out and go to work. Makes me wish I still had my son at home.

Re: My "shop" in the blizzard

You guys can come to Wyoming. Very little snow and no wind.

High today is suppose to be 5 above after 3 days of -19 during the day. But no wind.

P.S. Here is hoping you get your truck running soon.

You don't have a timing light or a regular light?
