Cool Any Source for Aftermarket Cruise?

I was wondering...Are there aftermarket cruise controls that would work on our trucks? I guess I need to look at JC Whitney's.

Sometimes I need extra restraint when just cruising down the road. Know what I mean?

I have the Audiovox CCS-100 Cruise Control that I purchased from JC Whitney. I've had it for a good two years. The installation was easy and the system works good.

If you have a manual tranny you don't need to put the magnet on the driveshaft - the system can use a signal from the distributer. I was planning on an automatic transmission swap when I bought my cruise so I put the magnet on the driveshaft right away . Before and after the transmission swap the cruise worked as advertised.

I have an aftermarket cruise set up in the box. It has never been opened and is complete. It was purchased from a parts (schucks or something like that) I will never use it so if someone wants it. $40.00.

I also have the dana aftermarket cruise set up from my 72 Jimmy, but not sure if it is complete. The tags say Dana (perfect circle speedostat) I don't want it either. $40.00

cruise

Yes I still have both cruise set ups for sale. I have an aftermarket unit from schucks or whatever, I have a dealer installed dana cruise unit that came out of my 72 Jimmy, and I also have a factory 1968 original cruise unit that still works, currently in the truck and listed on the glovebox door. All are for sale!!

I bet that was one rare opition in '68. I didn't even realize that GM put the cruise control opition on our trucks until 69 or 70.

I've installed Rostra cruise controls and they have been excellent. It's been a couple of years but I think they are still around.

Wouldn't it be fairly easy to put in a cruise setup from a later vehicle? You would need to put the switches somewhere other than the steering wheel but I wouldn't think the rest should be hard to install.

any mid 70-80's cars or trucks would do. grab the Transducer and the vacuum actuator then just wire in your switchs (engaging switch and brake switch) and your set. You'd also need to make/buy speedo cables.

GM cruise controls (Cruise-Master speed control system) have the engagement switch mounted at the end of the directional signal lever. Rostra makes a cruise control that uses the same method ( replacing the directional signal lever)..... So, if you wish to install a cruise control very similar to the GM unit; use a model that uses the direct signal lever engagement .

I pulled everything from an early 80's Olds at the Junk Yard for 25 bucks, works great, and looks stock
