KiloTacVacWoodCluster

Just finished the assembly of my instrument cluster today.
I patched a kilo speedo section from a kilo lens into the repro tac/vac lens that came with the tac/vac conversion kit.
The cluster also got a real kilo speedometer with 9 lines instead of 11 on a mile speedo.
Just wanted to show it to you. What do you think?
This will be installed in my truck when I have it back from the paint shop.

That's absolutely gorgeous! I don't think it gets any better than that. What kind of fortune have you got invested in it?

Re: KiloTacVacWoodCluster

That looks really good and I'm digging the Kilo speedo, something different. May I suggest you get a bottle of Model Master (fs28915) flourescent red and a small hobby brush to touch up the needles and to refresh the hot mark on your temp gauge and it will for sure look brand new, plus all the needleds will be the same color/texture. You can use regular household clear scotch tape(present wraping tape) to refresh the hot mark, just tape it into the shape of the mark and apply a generous amount of paint, wait a few minutes till it is tacky around the edges and remove the tape and set the dash up where it is level so the paint won't run amuck and let it dry for a hour or so and it will look good as new!. If you have any issues with the shape of the mark you put on the gauge, don't worry when you remove the tape you can use your fingernails to correct problems. Just a thought...Randy

Re: KiloTacVacWoodCluster

that looks sweet !!!!!!!
N2TRUX-- i have a cluster i built using all N.O.S. guages, including speedwarning speedo head, tach, vacuum, 80lb oil and i'm in it about $1400.00. the only repo part i used was the plastic bezel-- i couldn't find a N.O.S. chrome/woodgrain bezel, all i found were silver/woodgrain.

That's about what I figured. I don't have a 67-72 truck to put one in, but when I get one it will have to have a cluster that looks like that. So far I figure I will be spending about 3 grand on rebuilt seats and a set of gauges....

Re: KiloTacVacWoodCluster

Thanks for the nice comments.
N2TRUX:
I have somewhere between $500-600 in the cluster, it is all repro parts except for the used old stock kilo speedo parts.
Randy:
Thanks for the tip. I will definitely do that now when I still have the cluster out of the truck. If I don't find the Model Master brand over here maybe some other brand will work too.
Americanrider:
We have 110KPH (68MPH) as max speed limit in Sweden.

Thanks
Mats

Re: KiloTacVacWoodCluster

Mats,
How rare are these trucks over in Sweden?
Kind of wondering how many of those Km speedos are out there (never seen one before and they would be great here in Canada)

Re: KiloTacVacWoodCluster

HD2000:
These years’ trucks are rare today but they were pretty common back in the day.
Not many of them have survived, road salt and hard work killed many of them, and it seems to me that a lot of them have been crushed many years ago.
The newer generation’s 73-up and 88-up are very common over here.
There have been some guys on this board asking if I could possibly find any more kilo speedos so I still keep my eyes out for these speedos.
If I see a 67-72 truck for sale I call to ask if the seller possibly have some extra parts to sell, like a kilo speedo for example.

Re: KiloTacVacWoodCluster

Thanks guys.
I'm waiting to have all the body parts back from the paint shop so I can start the reassembly of the truck.

Re: KiloTacVacWoodCluster

Looks fabulous. Those KPH speedo would go well over here in Canada.
We went KPH in about 1976 I believe.

Re: KiloTacVacWoodCluster

Thank you,
I'm very pleased with the result.
I have had a guy fab up some decals for the lens.
The 0-160 won't line up correctly to the 11 markings on a mile speedo but the 0-200 will.
