rear axle alignment

well i got my 67 4x4 fleet home and noticed the left rear tire apears closer to the front of wheelwell than the right.i have measured from tie bolt to spring hanger on both sides and that is the same.i just assumed that it had a broken tie bolt.i have looked the frame over and it apears streight.also the frame is molded for the steering box so it must be on a later frame.has anyone ran across this?

Re: rear axle alignment

Are you measuring from the tie bolt on top of the leaf to the hanger? Measure from the axle it self to the front spring hanger, the axle may have slid forward on the spring.
Just a thought.

Re: rear axle alignment

I removed the ubolts and measured from the tie bolt to the curl on the front of the spring at the spring hanger. both sides measure the same. the flat piece on top of the axle has a hole that the head of the tie bolt has to fit in.the only way i can see to move it is to slot that hole.

the rear of the cab and front of the bed seem to alighn good?

Re: rear axle alignment

measure from the center of the front axel to the center of the rear axel/ then diagonally from rt front to left rear and then left front to rt rear to see if the axels are straight and square

Re: rear axle alignment

1.i Havent Driven It Yet, Just Got Engine In Over The Weekend And Was Checking All The Fluid Levels Before Moving It. But I Can Tell That It Will Probably Try To Pass Itself.
2.i Aim To Do A Lot Of Measuring When I Have Some Help. Thanks
