electric fuel pump issues

I have an 87 GMC
Recently pulled the factory 305 TBI, Went back with 350, w/ carb.
I was hoping to use the electric fuel pump, but when I turned key switch on the pump wouldn't work. I am sure it is because I have an open circuit somewhere on my old wiring harness. I did not remove the harness from the truck.
I am currently using a mech. pump, with the existing fuel lines. Basically sucking through the intank fuel pump. I know eventually this will wear out the mech. pump.
Any ideas of what I need to do to get the electric pump working again.

I will eventually be pulling the factory wiring harness.

Hmmm, an intank TBI pump will be too much pressure for a carb,,,,so you'll definately need a regulator mounted near the carb somewhere.

It's sounds like something was inadvertantly removed during the engine swap,,,,possibly the oil pressure switch connection?

Just a guess since it's so hard to diagnose these things without being there,,,but some of your older fuel injection vehicles with electric pumps have power running through the oil pressure switch. Just throwing that out there.
