Need some advice!!!
Ok hears the deal I have my 1968 C10 and I have had it since I was 15 and I am now 24 and i blew the heads on it a few years back and have not had the time or money to fix it,and inturn it developed rust on the cylinder walls and it need some body work and only rust is on both rockers.Anyways I have wanted to fix it but really dont have the time to do it and Im debating on weather or not to sell it.I really dont want to I would rather drive this than my newer car.This truck has major potential and I put it up for sale a few times but people just try to low ball me for like $1000 I think its worth more but you cant get much for a truck that is not running and I have tried to get estimates to rebuild the engine but these days I dont know who to trust...Just need some advice on what to do you know I just dont know what to do!!!

Get some junkyard heads and do a budget swap. You're half way there, all you have to do is find some heads put them on. A day or two of working on it...

To be honest I have a set of rebuild 350 heads just by the time I got them the rust was already built up...

How bad is the rust in the cylinders? You could clean it up and put new head gaskets and drive it or sell. A running truck is worth more.

Without having it in running condition, and in need of some body work, you're probably not going to be pulling in offers anywhere near what you think it is worth. With these economic times as they are, people who might buy it are going to be low-balling it. The work it needs will have to be done by someone, and paying for that work isn't cheap.
Your truck is a project, at best. You need to bite the bullet and determine whether or not you want to sell it as is, essentially a parts truck OR get it in running condition. You're not going to find many people who trust a seller that they don't know (nothing personal) who says a vehicle ran good when it was parked, yada, yada, yada. I know you didn't say that, but you understand what I mean. BTW, where is Haslet, TX? I have family in Longview, Sugarland, The Woodlands, Universal City and Conroe.

Haslet is next to fort worth near Roanoake....I thought about doing that to the cylinder walls myself but I have never done internal work on engines before and I really dont wanna mess anything up...

I've seen your ads on Craigslist. I feel right now it's a buyers market. Your truck has potential but I'd honestly have a hard time paying your 3k asking price. Get a cylinder ball hone and clean the cylinders up. Get it running and you will probably be able to get your asking price for minimal cash spent. Just my opinion.

Its been covered but it still built up I doesnt look that bad but you never know...I even thought about selling my mustang to build it back up..IM not a ford guy but I bought the car next to nothing...

Get a bucket of water, water hoses out and a few bottles of cleaner to make it look like you are cleaning the car....
What does everyone else do there? - Take their hybrids and Range Rovers to dealers to work on? Is it possible to get a permit to allow this for a few days? I would look into this? s/t

Yeah as far as my ad on craigslist I didnt really think I could get that much for it and it was really just to see what I coud get for it but its worth more than a grand....El Jay you are totally right and if all else fails 350 blocks are not hard to come by.....Thanks

Man if we had the same rims, our trucks would be twins.
Sell your mustang, buy a yamaha vstar 650 and fix your truck. When you buy the vstar let me know, I have a buddy in Irving that can help you mod it.

your gonna have to fix it up and get it running if you want any $$$ for it. to me as is, its just a roller, I would assume the engine is worthless and price accordingly. good luck and let us know what you do. (maybe pay someone to fix it, and get it done and sold?)

Well you said you already had heads for it, just hone out the rusty cylinders, blow all the dust and crap off the top of the pistons. Make sure the block is clean of all the old gasket, get new gasket set and put it back together. I've known guys fixing old tractor and dozer engines to pull the head off and find water standing and rusted up cylinders, then get it broke loose and hone or some have even sanded the rust off, oiled them up and ran them for years. Engine internals aren't as complicated as some would have you believe. On these old trucks of ours with a small block or straight six, it don't get much simpler. Just jump in there and get your feet wet, and if by some chance it goes awry, are you really gonna be any worse off then than now? Good luck with it and have fun!
