Bed floor id help needed.

I am new here so first off let me say Hello! Here is the problem, I just bought a 67 GMC short bed wide side last week as a project. The bed is in good shape outside, but the floor is another story. It just has a piece of plywood bolted down to the cross sills. How can I tell if it was a metal floor or wood floor in its original condition? Also, if it was metal, where can I get a new floor? Is it possible to cut out a long bed floor and trim it to fit? Or is that a waste of time? Thanks for the help! Nate...

You probibly have a wood floor. Check and see if the cross sills are bolted to the sides there should be 3 big ones and one small flat one. If you want to go to original wood floor kits are avaible. Good luck finding a ogiginal steel floor the are pretty Rare. It sounds like your truck had a wood floor at one time or another.

Thanks for the help, I to think its a wood floor, I was just looking for a way to make a positive ID. I do not have any pics yet but I will soon. Though I think it would be kinda embarassing. The truck looks like mad max owned it for a few years. I did buy a new Hood and fenders but they are not here yet. My plans for the truck are to bring it back up to nice shape as a driver. So nothing to wild is going to happen.
