Radiator/Shroud Question
'71 C10. Did the stock fan shroud physically mount to the radiator or some other place on the front of the truck? I have an aftermarket aluminum radiator right now and no fan shroud. The engine overheats if it just sits and idles for a while I assume due to the fact that there's no fan shroud to direct the air through the radiator. As long as I am moving forward it stays plenty cool. I am trying to decide whether I should replace the radiator with an OEM type ($200) and stock shroud or first try to get a stock shroud to mount with the current radiator. Any information or advice would be appreciated.

The shroud bolts to the top radiator hold downs and the bottom clips to the lower part of the radiator support.

So the shroud doesn't connect to the radiator itself at all? If not I'll probably try the cheaper route and get a stock shroud from LMC and see if I can get it to bolt on.......

If your using the stock type top radiator clamps you should be in good shape. Pics attached of the 4 and 3 core versions. Sharpie

If you don't have a shroud or the fan is not in the right place in the shroud you will have an over heating problem when not moving with the stock fan.
