Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Here I'm cutting off the top part of door. Cut was made at the top of the body line, this will eliminate where the old window surround was installed. I had to remove this so it was level with the rear of cab.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

This pic lets you see what I was referring too. I also had to rework the cab body line to line up with the door better.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

By removing the top part of door piece (left) I had to make up a new piece that would stiffing up the top of door, and have a place to attached window felt. The piece on the right is my new piece.

Thank you for the kind words. I'm not to bad, but lots of people are a whole lot better. I was told a long time ago " if it's metal, and you make a mistake, cut it out and do it again". Kind of hard words to learn by, but it sure helped me. Jim

After getting the metal close as I could. I had removed all the old crap from the inside of fenders, blasted and coated with encapsulator paint.

Jim, did you use rivets or screws to put the top together on frame? Love the door latches simple yet unique.

Yes I used rivets, put a little dough over them, primered, then had it covered with closed cell foam and contvertible top material. If i had a Tig welder I would have tried to weld, but not with the Mig.

oldman3, I love the convertable top. I often thought about it if I ever found cab with a damaged roof. Looks good.

Mine didn't fit so good either, one closer that the other, it was easier to make them look like they fit. Glad it helped.... Jim

Jim,how many beers did you drink while you sat and thought all of these details out? there's no way I could afford to have you build my truck for me-you do too nice of work, way more attention to the details than I would

oldman3, That is the way I like to do my running boards, make them fit the profile of the front fender. Looks good.

Posting early today. Pic 1 Here I was back working on the doors again. The door on the right has had paint remover applied and is ready for body work. Door on the left is next in line.

Pic 2 Same as above only the front side showing.

Thanks you for the thoughts. Haven't you heard beer is good for the brain. Really doesn't cost that much more, just a little time (if you're doing it yourself). I'v always told myself I couldn't afford to hire me. I'm a long way from rich, just have a lot of time to think some things out (not all of them are good). Lots of ideals I get from mags I read, believe me there are people a lot better than me. Jim

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

I like the interior a lot. It also gives me some ideas as the interior will be one of the last things that I do.

Where did you get the arm rests from?

I like where you are going with this.
