Another one bites the Dust

I went to pic this up this morning and the crusher ate it.
It was the one 67 that had the 348 in it. I know that it was atleast the 348 because of the W and that it had 8 valves.
shame.

There was a little bondo under a chunk of paint around the filler neck.

wrong, wrong, sick and wrong....I'll let one of these trucks rot in the pasture before I sell it for scrap and let China turn it into cheap tools or whatever they do with them after they get em.

I can`t believe there`s a junkman out there that would know the value of a "W" head motor.

Believe it. Junk is so high right now, that everyone is crushing out. Doesn't matter what it is - they just see the $$

There`s no way scrap prices will outweigh the value of a 348 or 409.Any knucklehead in the parts business would know that.

I understand that the value of the motor is worth more than junk, but I know alot of guys that will just junk stuff cause they don't want to deal with "lowballing customers".
A buddy of mine had a truck that some guy wanted the motor out of. He told him give me $100 for the truck and it's yours (very fair deal). The guy screwed around on him for a couple weeks. My buddy junked the truck out of spite

That is sad - I though junk was high right now? - small rice cars are bringing near $100 around here - at least last time I checked anyway.

OK, I guess you've found one of my "dumb zones". What the heck is a 348,and why would it have 8 valves!?

348 was a truck engine GM made from the late 50's to early 60's. They later made it a 409, and stopped making it in 1965 maybe? They have funny looking valve covers in the shape of a W.

Re: Another one bites the Dust

That just looks sickning, I agree with ol buck I would put it out in the field if I couldn't use it. I cant stand anythang 1976 or older "Thats good old american iron" getting crushed. There was a 67 long bed in bad, but restorable shape minus motor and tranny that went to the local landfill 7 years ago and I had no way to get it home and it got cut up and crushed.
