Stakepocket Tie-downs for Stepside Box

Hey guys,

I've just got all new bodywork & paint done including new bedboards for my 72 Stepside. I lost all my old ugly rope hooks and the holes too and now was thinking about getting some of those tie-downs that fit into the stake pockets. The trouble is the front two stake pockets are right at the end of the bed next to the cab and most of the pocket tie-downs I see have quite a large lip going around the base plate. Have any of you, with my style stepside, purchased any "nice" stake pocket tie-downs that worked well on the front pockets? If so, do you have a name brand to recommend?

I would appreciate any leads on some nice tie-downs.

Thanks

Re: Stakepocket Tie-downs for Stepside Box

Could you modify the mentioned portion of the overhanging
lip of whatever style you prefer? I wonder if the expanding-
rubber styles gain structural integrity from the top plate?

The idea sounds funky but I've never seen tie downs designed
specifically for step beds.

There ya have my wild guesses

Good luck and let us know what you come up with.

If I'm forces to trim the base of one, I'm hoping it will be of stainless or aluminum. Most of them I've seen so far are chrome steel or zinc steel... a rust magnet. I'll keep looking and report what I find. Meanwhile, I'm still open to suggestions.

Thanks
