Brake problem

I have a 72 c10 shop truck that the rear brake on the left side keep self adjusting to the point that the wheel won't turn. I have replaced everything. Drums, hardware, shoes and wheel cylinders. Also replaced the brake cables. It had the same problem prior to replacing every thing. I checked the run out on the axle its not bent. The hardware is on correctly as per the service manual. I even openned the bleeder to see if it was still under pressure. It was not. Adjusters are new and on the correct sides.

Any ideas? Is there a conversion back to manual adjustment?

Is the retainer lever(not sure what the technical term is) that holds the adjusting sleeve from turning engaging the star. And is the spring that pushes that lever into the star good?

It really sounds like the adjuster is on the wrong side, the one that is reverse thread is on the left side correct?????

Yes, the spring at the top of the lever is new , the spring that lifts the lever off the star seems to be ok. The lever rests on the star.

Its on the correct side. I took it apart and swapped it with the other side and when the lever comes down it backed off the brake so I know I had it right.

The only thing I haven't changed it the adjuster lever itself. It looked fine but who knows it maybe its bent. I'll get a kit tomorrow.

One more thing you may want to check is the e-brake adjustment. When the rear shoes are initially adjusted, the e-brake cable is supposed to be loosened off, and snugged back up tight after the rear shoes are adjusted. Just a thought.......

Well after looking over everything again. It looks like I had the E cable to tight and also had the wheel adjustment to tight. The self adjuster was working correctly it was just to tight of a base adjustment. The wheel got hot and started grabbing.
