Seat options

Could you guys post pics of what you have for seats in your truck? I need a seat for mine quite bad and I sure as HE!! aint paying $250 for a recover kit. Thats just dumb. Could You guys post what fits good or fits, and what doesn't, etc. What are comfy and so on. I would prefer a bench seat or a bucket seats with the flip down armrest/compartments (like in new Chevy's or something.) Thank you. I just need some food for though.

Looks like they fill the cab nice but why so low?

Thats how the brackets are on them. They fit nice and are really comfortable. I just nned them in gray instead of blue. I haven't bolted the console down yet I might have to make a small bracket do to the way the floor is.

Thought I had some pics of mine, but I guess not. I put in a 60/40 bench out of a late model extended cab. Very comfortable.

JSBGUMP, do those seats take up much legroom compared to the stock bench?? Any fit problems at all? Have to make brackets or use shims to fit the floorpan?

I took my old bench out to get the gas tank out, and I fit fine as far as my gut going in to the steering wheel. Then I put the seat back in, and my guy rubs the steering wheel a little. I didn't gain much weight, if any. I was confused big time. Theres still a couple inches between the tank and seat, but the seat wont go back completely. Acts like its is alread hitting on it. I need a new seat regardless, mine is a springy sponge.

I dropped in some brand new 01' silverado seats, really comfy, middle doesnt fold down but i dont care as long as they fit right, they fit perfect with the gas tank in place, had no problem putting them in, if u have ur gas tank out, ull have more room to slide back and forth...they have the over-shoulder seat belts incorporated into them so its the best bang for the buck, i paid 100 bucks straight for the driver, passenger and ***** seats at a local junk yard....good luck.

97Grand-Am with a mid 80's blazer console some fab. required not bad though pretty easy and comfy

legroom is pretty much the same. I just bolted them straight to the floor. I had to drill a hole in the pass side slide bracket to lock iy in place since they cam out of an extended cab 98 silverado

I have some buckets out of the new body style Chevy's in my C-20 Cummins Truck.................I really like them, but they weren't cheap. My brother just recovered a bench seat we had laying around with a new houndstooth cover from Chevy Duty, after setting on it and seeing it, It would be hard to choose what I would do if I need a seat again.

try driving a late model truck before getting the seats, everyone at work complains about the seat in our 2 new shop trucks hurting there backs (myself included) and the center part that doesn't flip down is located all stupid, a little further forward than where you sit, so when you reach for something you hit the seat with your elbow... very poor design IMO. With the seat belts in the seat, you better make sure you reenforce the floor REAL good when you install the seat, otherwise, you'll simply take the seat with you as you exit the windshield or when you plow into the steering wheel when the seat rips out of the floor in an accident. (Also, the seatbelt portion is technicly an illegal upgrade without certification from your state, but most states overlook it)

The guy is no longer a seller on e-bay... whom ever it was that pointed him out to me (see the thread) may be able to help with an e-mail addy or something, I don't have his info. These seats would probably cost over a grand for the two of them if purchaced new from Bostrom.
I've only driven on local running around, with 3 2 hr trips (each way) and one 3 hr trip (again, each way) and let me tell you... these seats are the sh!t. NO back pain, AT ALL, and that is saying something for me to not be in pain.

I like them becouse they look stockish... some one not knowing the trucks will think they are original. (already had to correct a few ppl)
I'm thinking of adding some heated allements into them so I can have heated seats.

Late model seats are a good option,compared to redoin' the stock. Some want OEM which is cool. But for $150 and up a late is a good choice.

2000 Silverado Seats. The center section is separate so it bolts in also. My tank is now in the rear. Have not reinforced the floorpan due to the built in seatbelts but plan to do so. I was not happy with the clearance between the wheel and my gut so I removed the pedistals that the seat frame sat on and bolted the frame directly to the floor. Lowered the seat about 2" and solved the problem.

i used 94-95? ford seats. very comfy, fit well, integrated cup holders. i welded a couple of brackets to get 'em bolted down. they are solid now.

also, i'm one of those idiots, giving into the wife for the factory bench, new foam, new upholstery (with heated seat kit inserts) so i'm now looking for a good home for this ford seat. also, green cab, gray seat no looky good together.

I guess I am just old fashion dumb. I have tried a lot of brand X seats, but it is hard to beat the appearance, fit and feel of the original deluxe seats for our trucks.
Having said that, I do have one exception. The 88-94 low backs (buckets & 60-40) are a very comfortable firm seats that don't take up as much room as the later models.

I`m with Pickmup.I like these trucks enough to not want to change them all around.If you`re building a custom,that`s cool.You`re commiting the trucks as non-original and the seat is just another mod.But,the seat change alterations today,will be the sunroofs,speakers in doors,& cut dashes of tomorrow.
Jakes 69GMC,you need to decide what direction you`re taking that truck.It`s a very original and fairly rare one(especially in your area).I`ve seen you talk about not doing certain things to keep your truck original.Then talk about doing other mods.Think it out.Get a view of the final product.There`s alot to consider:money,time,resources,and ability.

Jake, here's mine that I was telling you about the other day. 2000 Chevy Silverado seats. I bought the ones with the jump seat because I wanted my 13 month old(Halen) to be able to ride in her daddy's truck and listen to Van Halen very loud with him.

Hey Yellow....what year did you pull the brake pedal out of?
And did you pull just the pedal, or the bracket that hold it as well?
And (last question), are you using the factory rod, booster-bracket, booster, etc... from there on out?

Putter-A PO welded the pedal on. Everythingelse appears to be the same.
