Well today for some reason i got the motivation to try and polish the truck up a bit.

Let me tell you its a lot harder then i thought it would be. Takes lots of elbow grease!

I only got half the hood done because i wanted to take some pics and show you guys how big the difference is.

You can actually see a reflection from my beer!

Do you guys think i should keep going?

I think you may need some higher octane beer and an electric buffer!

This is what you get with a bottle of stout and a powered buffer:

Electric buffer indeed. I just did a paint detail on my 97 Z71. I used the Mothers clay bar and their wax. Paint almost looked brand new (Aside from the deep scratches. I just HAD to see how well it would go down that muddy trail)

Get yourself a buffer and a quart of "Perfect-it II" from 3M. This stuff is great.

you may try wet sanding with 1500 or 2000 grit micro-paper before buffing; I prefer 3M pink or Meguiars No.7 but there's a lot of good products out there (not Zymol).

And what's buffing without an unfiltered wheat?

I never knew Coors could be used to buff paint! I thought it was for seasoning bratwurst and hydrating at NASCAR fans!

Yes 3M's Heavy Cut Cleaner and a high speed buffer. Then some Maguire's "Wet" Show Gloss and a low speed buffer. Then some Maguire's yellow liquid after the Show Gloss has "soaked in". Then plenty of stouts.

Skip the 3M stuff and go right to the "Smutty Nose" Blueberry Wheat....seems to create a balance between the desire and the ability to actually buff

K i will look for some of that stuff this week end.

Tonight i made progress on the paint resto .....

I have admit though that i think good ol elbow grease does just as good a job as the buffer. I was using the buffer most the time but i kept finding myself putting it down and using my hands ..... maybe its just me

Any how here are some pics of what i finished. In some of the pics you can see this white colored streak .... i am not sure what it is but it seems to take well to wax ..lol. And yes i tried to remove the streak before i waxed. I may have to sand it a bit.

Remember now i was working with old dry paint that felt like it was orange primer. I know it doesnt look perfect just yet but she looks hellofa lot better.

Anyway heres the progress .... only finished the hood and passenger side.
