Shep from The Diesel Place is in the house!

I have looked for this for a LONG time! A little over a year ago I found http://www.dieselplace.com while looking to learn about my new Duramax. I posted on there about having a '72 3/4 ton 4x4 and not having the community for a truck like that like I had in The Diesel Place. I was steered here. After looking thru some threads yesterday, I knew this was the place for me when I saw a thread on manual hand throttles and how hard it is to find replacement parts. I mean after looking for parts at all the well known vendors, you would think that a manual hand throttle truck would be more valuable than a factory tach/air cab truck (see Honus Wagner in baseball cards!).

I grew up on monster trucks and pulling trucks. The original 1970 USA-1 is the most beatiful truck ever. Then...

My Dad bought our 72 3/4 4x4 in 1988. He is the 3rd owner and I am the 4th. Learned how to drive on the street, do burnouts, drove to high school, drop chains (bumper to bumper pulling), 1st piece of "warm apple pie" all in this truck...in that order! I have turned just about every bolt on this truck at some point or another. I have studied the quarterly LMC catologs that mysteriously just started showing up since I was in junior high to figure out options (and see how things work together). After all that I consider myself very knowledgeable about these trucks, but I am in no way a know it all.

Well that's me and my truck in a nutshell. I am currently trying to get things in order to do a frame off, unless I get "Overhauled." Talk to ya'll soon.

Re: Shep from The Diesel Place is in the house!

No pics yet on one of them new fangled lektronik cameras. I'll have to get older ones transferred to a chip or disc. Just picture this...2 tone blue/white/blue w/ a white cab...4x4...33x15.5x16.5 TSL/SX swampers on 12" wide wheels.

How do I get the color of my name to change? Do all new guys get pink?

Pink is the color for all non-subscribing members....
see here:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a....php?f=50&a=17

non-subscribing members are pink
Subscribing members are blue
vendors are red
volunteer staff is orange
Administrators are purple
moderators are bright blue
truck-of-the-month winners are green

Hope that helps

click on "UserCP" at the top of the screen. On the left side at the bottom there will be an option under miscellaneous that says group memberships.

God, I think I love this site! I need to git my truck out to git another slice of warm apple pie (bench seats are great). You brought back memories that I never even considered posting. Thanks, Welcome, and post some pics.

Welcome from Bellingham WA. Some times I feel like I'm in the wrong area for my truck aswell. Mostly toyotas and crawler jeeps. I grew up in Texas playing in the mud. I too am waiting to be "overhauled"
I'm talking about my area of washington. Don't want to sound like I'm bashing the site.
