Need some guidance here from the guru's

Gents, I am fixing to order slew of parts for the front end of my truck and I want to make sure I'm heading in the right direction here. I'm sure this subject has been beat to death before ..but did a search and didn't find exactly the answer I was looking for so....
Ok so my main question here is how low can I bring the front end down before I start to have issues with fender clearance's on the front. I was heading for 2.5 drop spindles and 2" drop springs. I just want to make sure I wont have issues at that height with out going modular spindal's I will be running 15x7 wheels ( either wheel vintiques steelies or alum slots) and probably a 60 series tire. I figured at this height I would more than likey need modular spindles. Do the gurus think that I will have issues?

Your list is real close to what I have ( 2.5 spindles and 1.5" springs) and I don't rub, my front tires are 225/70/15 on 6.5" rallies.

Re: Need some guidance here from the guru's

Thanks for the rapid reply Clyde. From I can see in your avatar looks like you fender lip has plenty of clearance. You're running 3.5 and if I go with the set up I am talking about, mine will be 4.5 total drop.
Also I am curious which I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question, with a 4.5 drop up front I need to run shock re-locators as well huh? Or will lowered shocks work?

You'll be just fine with your current plan.

Here is my old 63 with 2.5 non modular spindles and 2 inch coils. Front wheels are 7 inches wide with 235/50-15 tires.

There is no need to relocate the shocks. All your shocks are effectively seeing is a 2 inch drop, as the spindles do not affect shock length in any way, just the springs.

Backspacing on the wheels will affect your chances of rubbing. With a 7" wide wheel, I belive the "normal" backspacing would be 3-3 1/2" and you'll have no problems.

If you tried to run a 9" wheel, with only 3" BS you could have issues while turning sharp over bumps/dips in the road. Keeping your BS at roughly half your overall width will normally keep you out of trouble.
