K-20vs C20 bumper brakets - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am trying to fit up a front bumper onto a 69 K-20 . I have no idea what the bumper came off of as far as year. It is the proper one, however ,for a 69 and has no turn signal light holes in it. I also have a set of the long brackets that seem too long. The K frame has some holes through the frame at the spring hanger location. if i mount the hanger there it puts the bumper out way too far. If i bolt the bracket up to the bumper , then the bracket fits up to the frame farther back where there are no holes for mounting. It sure seems there are different brackets involved and that could be my problem. I will take pics tommorow if need be.
Has anyone else experienced this?

The 4wds used separate brackets than 2wds.They mounted through the hole where the spring hanger is.The 2wds mount farther back.I bought the correct ones but have cut,welded,and modified 2wd ones to work a few times.

Exactly what I was thinking.
Get out the cut-off wheel, shorten, gusset and weld it back to length so it will bolt up in the right place.

Actualy , on second thought ,I could cut the bracket, lap it over for a lap weld and do that instead of a gusset!
