about 3 months ago I picked up a 67 suburban with no factory a/c. I been workin on the body so far but I was wondering what to do about the a/c. could I get it out of an older model suburban like the 80's style? or I found a 69 truck with a/c, the whole setup for 100 bucks. couls that work? just lookin at options.

The '69 a/c should work. It should be like a tunnel that runs from the back to the front. The '72 is a one-year only deal. It has a setup that is real similiar to the '73-'91 style. I hve never tried, but I believe a unit from these Burbs would fit with little modifiacation if any.

so i would be fine just getting the a/c out of the truck? and how would i be able to hook up the air running to the rear of the truck? not with rear controls, just the air from the front reaching the back. if it cant be done, no big deal. 99.9% of the time will be only me riding in it anyways.

Most people don't use the '69-'71 a/c because they are not usually in good condition, but if the one you might get is, then grab it if you want to. To get to the back, there are lines that run from the front to the back that supplies the freon. It then goes to the evaporator in the rear unit, then to the vents. The rear unit has a blower in it. If its just going to be for yourself, a.c from a truck or aftermarket would work.

I would pass on that.
In all reality, I say go aftermarket. They cost quite a bit, but by the time you go through the trouble of modifying your firewall, and replacing the old stuff in the old a/c you are getting and all that jazz, you will be a few dollars shy of NEW stuff that'll probably work better.

To clarify you are refering to the '72 rear air? Didn't the '72 Suburban also get dash air?

so would the 73+ would not be a good idea? what is all involved to swap it in my truck? it doesnt seem that hard but i have never looked at it..

72 had in dash air also, yes.
