1991 K1500 project questions

Recently picked a V6 5 speed K1500 truck with six bolt wheels. Does this make it a heavy duty 1/2 ton or did all 4WD 1/2 tons use six bolts. Although the truck has many minor problems the body is rust free and when you hit a bump the entire truck moves together rather then as a collection of parts. It feels solid. The hood alignment had me worried about the frame but it runs straight down the highway.

I am looking for the dash cluster schematic with the pin numbers for the connector. I am having problems with the cluster illumination. All the gauges work except the mechanical odometer which is worn out.

all k1500 series trucks came with 6lug as they were 4x4 2500 up were 8lug. as for the movement you probably need shocks. my 1996 that I just bought had the same issue bad shocks. nice truck by the way.

There were some heavy duty 1/2 trucks that had a 7200 GVW.

And there were some light duty 3/4 ton trucks that had 7200 GVW(and 6 lug)

But there weren't any 5 lug 4wd trucks.

By the vin it is a standard 1/2 ton. Seems tall.

Making good progress. Removed the make shift ignition from the ash tray and now have a working factory ignition switch on the column.

Note to anyone working on a non tilt wheel: there are hidden screws on the back side of the plastic shell that holds the turn signal cam etc. To get to the ignition switch pull all the plastic off the steering column and then remove these screws from the back.
The cluster illumination lamps now work and the tail lamp fuse no longer blows. Cleaned up the instrument cluster but the odometer wore out at 46K. Cleaned it up but it jams so I left the wheels out. Looks like I may have the trip odometer working. Good enough for now.

Replaced the brake booster.

Had IAC and low fuel pressure codes when I started. Not sure why but they are gone. I have only driven it a handful of miles during testing. So they may come back.

Next I plan to give the engine some TLC. Will revisit the forum post on rough running engines. Need a front wheel balanced or new front shocks.

great truck keep her clean and factory standard imo but everyone is different.

the trip odometer you'll find if u open the gauge cluster it's a easy fix, there's a spring inside you'll find that's broke i bet, as u dont reset these trip units while moving.

Yeah it has been a while.
Took the dask cluster out. Live in the dust bowl. The trip odometer was ground into junk by sand. Need to tear the dash out some time and refresh the HVAC duct and controls. There is a dwarf kicking he dash.
