Project: What the heck did I get into???

So after becoming bored with this I started to look for something older that would meet the year requirements to get into NSRA and Goodguys show..

In my search I came across this Jimmy and worked a trade for my 97

After looking at it I find that it needs front floor boards only (Yeah, right) Once I got it home I found a ton of other issues that I wasn't comfortable with..

Re: Project: What the hell did I get into???

I find out that there is about 1/4 of bondo in the drivers side bed, the torsion boxes are gone, the bed floor has rotted through in several place...

What do I do now??? Throw an assload of money at it....(until my funds run out)...

So instead of fixing all the rotted panels, I came acrossed this rust free blazer tub that was about an hour and a half from my house. Some of you might recognize this tub????

Then started the tear down of the blue jimmy..

Re: Project: What the hell did I get into???

Using this site I contacted a couple of vendors and used the classified to buy what I needed... Like Tri-pro automotive, Suicide doors and of course the man! Porterbuilt!

I need to take a few more pictures of the parts I have and I'll update as I make more progress..

Glad you found a tub that nice. Sucks your having to do all that work though. How low you gonna go? Wheel/tire size? Keep it up, your half way there.

Re: Project: What the hell did I get into???

I am going to lay the front x-member on the ground. I have Suicide doors upper and lower tublar control arms. In the back I am only going just c-notch the frame and have a hot rod rake..

Wheels and tires are going to be 15". Once I scrape up enough change I would like to get a set of Ansen Sprints...

I got really lucky!!!! Only real rust was sections of both rockers, the guy I bought it from (board member) replaced the section of rust on the passenger side and was almost done the drivers side when I bought it...

Other than that there was only surface rust that we are going to sandblast this weekend..

So that's where that tub got off to. You're going to have one nice Jimmy when you get through. I'll tag along.

I cut it half.. right before the bed threw the floor boards to get it outside. I'm willing to sell sections (I need to pay my subscription and put it in the classifieds) Hope this doesn't get my post closed.

I sold them as they were 5x4/3 bolt pattern using adapters. Wasn't a big fan of the adapters. I'm going run the corvette rallys til I can afford (and find) a set of Ansen Sprint or E.T. III's

I'm watching this as well. I noticed rear leaf springs; was this a 4x4 in a previous life?
