871 original miles?

I have a hard time believeing this...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...521727562&rd=1

But on the other had it is a very nice truck.....just with the aftermarket bumper, exhaust, and the absence of chalk markings under the hood i think it has 100,871 miles and has been recently redone.

And the lack of the original tires on those wheels, the aftermarket stereo, the addition of the wheels, the style of the hose clamps, the Indian blanket seat cover (and the lack of a seat picture minus that cover!)...I'm inclined to agree with you on this truck. If it were truly 817 miles, the "Buy It Now" price would be significantly higher, IMHO. Definitely at least 100K + 817 miles, I think!

The title of the auction says 1500 miles, then in the description and on the odometer it says 871?

Truck has been redone. 100871 miles on it or more. Carb is too dirty for an alleged 871 miles and the inside box has dents with still glossy paint over them. Usually when wheelwells are dented like that the paint is not all new and glossy looking.

It is a nice truck though.

The 1500 in title is the series,it`s a 1500 (1/2t).These days people don`t know any better and go by what they are known as today. This guy`s going by the word of three generations.Wonder if the family`s name is James or some other famous outlaws.I feel sorry for that poor, unsuspecting auto dealer being prayed upon like that.

Maybe gauge set replaced or od. set back? I do not think that truck has seen over 100k miles, Steering wheel and interior wear does not reflect that many miles. A wicked nice resto job if it has. I never saw trim rings with hub caps from the factory on a truck this old, have you?

It's definitely a nice truck, I also doubt it's 871 miles.

Should be a two-tone truck. Is that a stock color for 69?

The wheel has a cover on it...could easily be hiding a cracked wheel. The steering wheel in my '72 with proably 300,000 miles on it is actually in great shape and is only spread apart just a little bit at the top...the center is in as good of conditon as that. The seat has a cover, so it is proably ripped or worn out, and the carpet could have been replaced.

Again i say that it is a very nice clean truck that i would love to have it, but i doubt the 871 miles. It could easily have less than 100k on it though.

The guage bezel looks brand new too...proably replaced.

No way its an 871 mile truck. As Maximum Overdrive pointed out, check out the dented up bed. Even dents on the front bed panel.

`69 had that color. You could get solid paint w/upper & lower trim.

Yes but that narrow trim piece around the back of the cab below the rear window usually means that the cab top was white.

I'm wondering of those dents in the cab are actually reflections. It's hard to tell. That truck has definitely had a re-paint though.

It looks like the dash is cracked in the middle too....It is a VERY nice truck. I don't think I'd pay 10K for it, especially with a 307, more like 6K-7K. 3 Generations and 871 miles? ROFL. Back in 1969 who bought a truck to store it for 30 some odd years? It wasn't like today when soccer moms drive Z-71's to the grocery store. It was for work or at least to tow something. Anyway, beautiful truck, not original, and all the more reasons I am begining to seriously hate e-bay.

if grandpa was a car enthusiast, why wouldn't he get the big fancy schmancy shortbed with a huge motor, instead of a LWB 307 powered ho-hum truck?

Or better yet shorty, how bout a 69 SS 396 camaro or 69 firebird ragtop...when was the last time you saw one of those??? What's really sad, is that someone is going to buy that story and they are going to buy the truck and pay way too much for it. The trail of lies will never die...........
