Frustrated

just had my starter replaced and right after the truck started making a grinding noise when you start it. (same noise it makes when you turn the key when the engine is already running). so this means the flywheel right? is this something the mechanic could have done wrong when installing the starter? now it will not start at all? pushed it over to a neighborhood shop. whew... and he is replacing the flywheel/pressure plate. I also had a leaky rear seal so he is doing this as well when he is back there. is that rear seal a one piece? what would you expect to pay for this repair? thanks.
