VIN number not on dash?
I am in the process of restoring my blazer and as I replacing some of the decals, I couldn't find the VIN plate on the dash area... I have it on the body of the vechicle. (picture below)
but I would have thought that by 72 it would have it under the windshield area... is it missing?... and where exactly should this one be placed...my body shop guys cut it out before I documented it... and I don't exactly trust them to replace it in the same spot..

Re: VIN number not on dash?
you will not find it , like the newer cars where you are thinking , it is only on the door jamb, and on spid if there on glove box , and frame by steering box , and one also under cab , , if 72 there will be a blue decal on door , by stricker , but they sometimes like spid get weathered or rubbed off , hope this helps

That does help...quite a bit.. thanks!..working on ordering a new SPID from chipflyer and I guess I'll have to find that blue decal too..... Hopefully I can find a pic of someones VIN and see about how far from the Striker it should be placed.. (it's a 72)

Re: VIN number not on dash?
the frame serial # is about 6 inches on driver side back from steering box , just past the bend up area for power steering pump , right on top

Re: VIN number not on dash?
The Rockers were a complete disaster and the bedsides were replaced with the new ones that just came out...so during that surgery almost everything was removed..

Re: VIN number not on dash?
This is passengers side... but it gives you an idea of what all had to be replaced..same on drivers side...basically the Core was really the only thing not invaded by serious rust.....and once I started, there was no turning back.

Re: VIN number not on dash?
It will probably less of a hassle if you just put the plate back on when its done and not tell anyone at the DMV

Re: VIN number not on dash?
I don't see where it's an issue. You're not attempting to commit fraud. I would rather have the original that matches the frame number welded in then another from a body that doesn't match. Stuff rusts. Stuff gets repaired.
