Converting 4x4 to 2wd with c10 donor truck

I have read a lot of threads and articles on converting but all old articles. I'm considering converting my blazer to 2 wheel. Can buy a donor truck with all the trailing arms, front suspension etc...

With more and more people doing it and more available after market parts anyone have any feedback on this using a 2wd truck for parts?

Any feedback would be great

Re: Converting 4x4 to 2wd with c10 donor truck

I was about to set off on doing the same thing on a 4x4 Blazer before I found an original 2wd. I bought a short 2wd truck frame that I was going to cut 11" out of it between the trailing arm cross member and the transmission cross member. Then just transfer the body mount brackets off of another 4x4 Blazer frame that I have. Doing it this way would make it easier for normal truck lowering components to work properly, plus if anybody looked under the rear end they would see the frame rails kicked out and be fooled into thinking it was all original.

You can swap all of the 2wd parts onto an existing 4x4 frame if you are not planning on pulling the body off. Just mock everything up and take good measurements before you start drilling into the frame. You will have to make some brackets to hold the top of the coil spring or airbag though.

I did the donor truck thing with my Blazer. You can look over my build thread to get an idea of what it takes. Link in my signature.
