fuel coming out of dipstick

Just got a call from the guys painting my truck. They said they were going to pull it in and it wouldn't start. They then noticed fuel coming out of the dipstick. Anybody ever dealt with this? What was it?

Now, they are 50 miles away and I do not have access to the truck until this weekend so you can ask all sorts of questions but this is the only info I have other than it's an '87 350 out of a blazer and has a q-jet carb.

From a little searching I'm hearing everything from stuck floats to stuck needle jets. These guys want to replace the fuel pump. If you ask me the fuel pump is working just great.

I had planned on putting an edelbrock on it in a year or two but this may speed up my timetable if it will fix the problem.
