Facebook purchase success!

.

My '67 has a Gen 1 MSD Atomic EFI setup. Back in 2019 I broke the handheld controller unit that allows setting all the various parameters, evaluating performance metrics and real time monitoring during tuning or troubleshooting. Back then, the replacement cost 250 bucks.

I broke the F**ker again. It slid off the grill and hit the floor...gone. Today the replacement is 394 bucks. Nope.

As a last resort after hunting for one all over, I post on a Facebook group specific to the MSD Atomic. One of only 2 responses claimed to have the controller, throttle body, Atomic computer, the wiring and a couple sensors. He said the only thing he didn't have was the fuel pump, fuel lines, O2 sensor, pressure regulator and maybe some hardware.

After his first post in the group, I started communicating via PM on the platform. 200 bucks plus 35 shipping.

Is it a scam? Is it? This was blaring in my mind when I sent him the 235. It arrived today. The parts are rough, just like described and it's all there. This is an absolute steal but I fell like I risked my money here...

1st pic is my broken controller...other 2 are the parts I bought...controller is at bottom of box and is fine.

Re: Facebook purchase success!

I've bought and sold a lot of stuff on FB marketplace.
You just have to be careful and use a payment method that gives buyer protection.
If the seller won't agree to using one, then no deal.
FB is wrought with scammers.
