Need to vent, horrible couple of weeks

I figured you guys would understand since you love your trucks as much as I do.

First, I took my truck over to my buddies shop (classic car/truck repair and restoration) to have a bunch of things done, new carb, intake and a few other things. While it was there one of the crew was hanging some lighting and slipped off this giant metal ladder and....yep...bam! It hit my truck. No real damage but the roof and divers door needed to be repainted. The owner is a close friend of mine and there was no problem with having it fixed. They have a pro painter that does all of his classics. Well the white matched perfectly but the green didn't so now they have to take it in and have it matched and redone. Not that big of a deal but kind of a bummer, I didn't have the truck for two weeks.

So I get the truck back, she's running awesome and all is good and then last night some d!ckless piece of sh!t pulled a hit and run. Scuffed the bed side in two places, mangled the bumper, tweaked the pipe and wasted the back lower molding. Needless to say it hasn't been a good day. With a buddy, a telephone pole and a 2X4 we were able to the bumper looking better, for now anyway.

Whew, that's a load off. Thanks for listening (or reading I should say) to my babble.

I feel for you..that sucks. Today a kid pushed a shopping cart in front of my truck today while I was on the mall roof parkade...needless to say, it was GMC truck: 1, Shopping cart: 0. I hate idiots who try and wreck other people's stuff

hit and run...you did contact the police didn't you?
While it is true that they'll probably not find the person, and in Cali, there is a strong chance of that person being uninsured and or an illegal...but you might get lucky.

Dion, man that sucks; I'm sorry to hear it. It's like that old saying goes: "When it rains, it pours." Seems like sometimes bad things just happen all at once. At least it wasn't anything too severe, in terms of damage. And that you are okay. When s@#t like that happens, you need to vent it out. But just try to think that it could have been worse, and @$$holes like that get what's coming to them one way or another.

Dude, you are handling better than I would have. You are obviously level headed.I would freak.I would probably cry like a 6 year old girl. You may not get to see it,but it is true what goes around comes around. That said I know it doesn't help. What sucks is there is nothing that can be done about it.Sorry to hear the bad news.

Thanks guys. Well a few beers and a bad 70's b horror movie later and I feel better.

Actually after looking at it now the damage wasn't as bad as I thought. Some scuffs on the tail pipe and some ripples on the molding but nothing too noticable. The bumper pretty much pushed back in and up so you can't really even tell it was hit, I couldn't believe it, it was really jacked! The scuffs on the bedside came off with a little elbow grease.

I did find some pieces of his turn signal lense and part of his mirror in the street. I live close to a local crackhead bar so I'm going to keep an eye out for the car. It looks like a small car like a Honda or something. From the amount of broken pieces I found it looks like his car took way more of a beating than my truck

I had a drunk guy slam on brakes 2 cars in front of me for no apparent reason and cause a three car pile up. He was arrested for drunk driving, no liscence , and no insurance also it was not his car. My liability insurance gave everyone a check but me . My uninsured motorist insurance would not even repair mytruck. The only thing I received was a ruined bumper , radiator , bumper brackets, broken transmission & motor mounts and my driveshaft in the street. needless to say I received a claim on my insurance for which I was later canceled.

Terrible week! Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you had all such "accidents" happen in a row so you can go a long stretch damage free.

Can you get your truck off the street for parking? If not, you might install a super tough, heavy steel bumper until you can sequester the truck at night. Throw on the good bumper just when you want to show off.
