woohoo- changed the leaf springs

well got rid of those cheesy @$$ 3 leaf springs and put on the 4 leaf. man i can believe what a difference. only problem now is the truck is probably 2 inches higher and that is with the drop shackles. dam i guess next step is hangers. well i would imagine they were worn that much only because there is only a 1/4 in difference in thinkness between these springs and the old ones. oh well the old ones are gone and i believe so is the popping in the rearend.

What was wrong with the 3 leaf setup? Both my trucks have the 8 leaf pack setup and I was thinking of changing my daily driver to the 3 leaf setup for a better ride. Is this a bad idea?

Jeremy,

I think the fewest leaves in 56" is 6, or as I call it 5 &1.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the 3 leaf, i was just saying i tokk those chessy ones of my truck. in other words when i lowered the axle to take the pressure off the springs to remove them, they went down pretty far. when i put on the new springs (4 leaf) i had to jack the axle back up about 4 inches to the relaxed spring to be able to bolt them back up.

BTW , that was the knocking problem. i drove the GHOST to HOUSTON to my extra job and not a knock. everything was perfect and the truck actually does ride better. it also took the wander out of the front end while driving at highway speeds. i have been messing with this for about 4 years.
