It's Home
My son and I drove out to Buffalo last Saturday and picked this 72 3/4 ton up. I won it on eBay and I was sweating it out all the way there, hoping I didn't get burned.
Well, it turned out to be a pretty good truck, needs lots of work, but nothing more than I expected for an east coast truck. It was neat driving along the NY thruway and getting a bunch of "Thumbs Up' from passers by, one guy followed us into a rest area and talked 67-72's while we fueled up and checked out the truck on the trailer. I'm a long time Chevy guy, had a bunch of only Chevy trucks in the past and have been drivin' a big truck for the same outfit for 31 years. I retire in a couple of years and this will be my daily driver when I shut down for good. This site is will be a big help, my wife thinks I must have a girlfriend here, cause I spend so much time reading all the great info. Hey Robin,
Nice truck you won there. I won one in May off of ebay. I had mine trucked from Nebraska to Virginia. It's a real solid truck but the motor smokes like a train. Have fun with your new ride, looks real nice.

Hopefully, those 35's will clear with the 4 inch spring lift, looks pretty close. The final lift will probably be 2 inch(new leaf springs) with a different set of tires. Great looking truck and welcome to the board. If you ditch the 4" lift you will likely be able to keep the 35's if your not going to be taking the truck off-road. Nice when an e-bay purchase works out well.

It doesn't need less lift, it needs more tire. I would put a set of taller tires on it and let it stand tall above the crowd....

looks like that will be fun in some snow...mind if I ask what it cost in the end? I fit 33" on my stock K-10 so yours should be find. All depends on the rims and backspacing that you end up with.

You should be able to keep the 35's with a 4 inch lift.
I ran 33's on 15x12 rims for awhile on my half ton with no lift.I agree that the body lift should go because I hate the look with them on trucks too. Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 12-23-2006 at 12:08 PM. |

Lots of work to do. A little more about the truck, it's a 72 2wd on a 69 frame, and I guess he took the grill too. I learn something new every time I open this site. My son has a 70 Blazer and I think he mentioned that also, about the grill. I paid $3050 for it. It is an old restoration with an average repaint. Cab needs floor work and front cab mounts, minor windshield area rot, other wise cab, doors, fenders, frame are solid. Hood has some bubbles up front, not sure where to go there. The floor of the bed is shot, tailgate has lower rot , passenger side bed side has rot over wheel, drivers side excellent. I'm going to store the truck for the winter and try to restore the bed first here at home. Engine is strong, but I'm going for a goodwrench crate motor before it hits the road. Thanks for all the advice on the tires, they are in good shape and I wanted to use em up before spending $ on new tires.
