68 custom cab fuel gauge problem

Hi Guy's..

Got a problem getting the gas gauge in my ol 68 truck to work. Removed the sending unit and the ohm's change like it's working correctly? Stab the sending unit wire coming from the fuse block to ground and gauge goes from empty to full like gauge is working correctly?? Made sure sending unit is grounded....what am i missing???

Thanks

Steve, welcome to the forum.
Is there a chance that the sending unit is in sideways? The float would hit the wall of the tank before going up.
Try grounding the tank better?
