Talking I'm only here for the food

Hello to all! I've come to this forum for various types of info on the Chevy engine I am building, and I thought it was time I officially signed up.

I'm not working on a Chevy truck though, I am refurbishing a 1971 Checker Marathon. The 350 it originally had was absent when I bought it, so I sourced one from a P30 step van. It was an airplane service vehicle with mixed and extra parts, so just figuring out what I need & don't are the big issues. Essentially what I have now are 1972 parts attached to a block dated 1979. I am swapping the points for HEI and trying to figure out why anyone would need a 5 groove crank pulley.

Looking forward to learning and sharing!
