1982 Crew Cab 3+3 2WD
We just got our truck on the road.
We purchased the truck to pull our race car and trailer, knowing all along the 350 would not have the torque to do the job. We lost the engine the first day we hooked the trailer up and started down the road. We had the gas pedal to the floor and were going 52 mph. We converted it over to a 468 with left over bbc parts from our race car. This is a 4 speed manual transmission with a 3.21 ratio in a 14 bolt ff locker. We used a 2 bolt 454 block bored, 60 over, with flat top pistons zero decked, steel shimmed head gasket, professional products duel plane intake,Q-jet with parts ordered from Cliff Ruggles. 781 oval ports heads with small manley under cut street flow valves, hydraulic roller cam, headman elite series headers 1 3/4 with a flow master system we had on our chevelle, HEI ignition, designed a cold air induction system from air cleaners and parts in the shop. We drove it today and it drives out very nice and sounds sweet. 60 MPH @ 2100 rpms 31 inch tire.

How well does it pull the trailer and what do you figure your mpg while pulling the trailer??? I'm thinking of something similar in a crew cab but I have a ls1 with a 4l80e laying around and needs to be able to pull a 22' trailer. What do you think???

Re: 1982 Crew Cab 3+3 2WD
We tested it with the car loaded were around 8.5 mpg. We have a few hills to pull. Out on the flat on I-90 it runs out real nice and has a ton of passing power if we need it. We only have to go about 65 miles to the track so for what we are doing it just fine. The tools, gas and golf cart will more weight. The engine has 150 miles on it so it should get better with time. We have some tuning to do yet. But it is a sweet set-up.
You should be able to pull your set-up with out any problem. Willie
